Recently, I've been quite bored. So, I decided to create a NEW website for LIFE OF RORY.
Here it is: lifeofrory.tk

Book Review: Artemis Fowl
The back cover gets you into the book. Here is the back cover text: "Twelve-year-old Artemis Fowl is a millionaire, a genius - and, above all, a criminal mastermind. But even Artemis doesn't know what he's taken on when he kidnaps a fairy, Captain Holly Short of the LEPrecon Unit. These aren't the fairies of bedtime stories - they're dengerous! Full of unexpected twists and turns, Artemis Fowl is a riveting, magical adventure." As I said, the text draws you into the evil scheming and plotting that is the life of Artemis Fowl, boy genius.

How To #1: Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich
This is the beginning of a, hopefully, successful series on how to do multiple things, varying in difficulty level. I'm going to start out with something easy, making a peanut butter & jelly sandwich.
Materials Needed:
Peanut butter
Jelly or jam of any flavor
Two pieces of bread
2 butter knives
Directions:
1: Place two slices of bread on a flat surface.
2: Put peanut butter on a butter knife.
3: Spread the peanut butter on the knife all over one side of one of the pieces of bread.
4: Put jelly or jam of your choice on the butter knife you did not use for the peanut butter.
5: Spread the jelly on the knife all over one side of the piece of bread that doesn't have peanut butter on it.
6: Place the two pieces of bread on top of each other so that the jelly and peanut butter are on the inside.
7: Enjoy your peanut butter & jelly sandwich!
Notes:
Instead of 2 pieces of bread, you could use 1 piece of bread cut in half.

You Are Here!
Obviously, wherever you are, you are "here," and I am "there." To me, you are "there," and I am "here." In malls, the large signs that say "You are here," have spots in different places, depending on the location of the sign. Is there really such thing as "here," or is "there" the right adverb to use to describe a location? Comments, please.

Boring!
Full of school, piano, and more school, my life has been especially boring lately - despite the subtitle of this blog, "The Life of Rory... interesting and never dull!" Later today I have a piano recital. The two pieces that I will play are Eine Kleine Nachtmusik by Mozart and Allegretto in C Major by Diabelli.

Skiing & Music
Today, I went skiing in Beaver Creek, CO. There is one thing I hate about skiing, but today was enjoyable. I ate Alfredo at Spruce Saddle for lunch. After lunch, we skied a bit. Then, we went to the Crystal Grotto, North America's only performing arts center created from ice. The instruments were also crafted out of ice. It was quite strange.

Hello! I have been gathering quotes over the past few weeks. I have some of my favorites below.

"I know somebody and they cry for you. They lie awake at night and dream of you. I bet you never even know they do, but somebody's crying," ~Chris Isaak
"So this is how liberty dies... with thunderous applause," ~George Lucas
"From the moment I met you, all those years ago, not a day has gone by when I haven't thought of you. And now that I'm with you again, I'm in agony. The closer I get to you, the worse it gets. The thought of not being with you - I can't breathe... You are in my very soul, tormenting me," ~George Lucas

Today is Veterans Day
Veterans Day
by Cheryl Dyson
On Veterans Day we honor all,
Who answered to a service call.
Soldiers young, and soldiers old,
Fought for freedom, brave and bold.
Some have lived, while others died,
And all of them deserve our pride.
We’re proud of all the soldiers who,
Kept thinking of red, white and blue.
They fought for us and all our rights,
They fought through many days and nights.
And though we may not know each name,
Who answered to a service call.
Soldiers young, and soldiers old,
Fought for freedom, brave and bold.
Some have lived, while others died,
And all of them deserve our pride.
We’re proud of all the soldiers who,
Kept thinking of red, white and blue.
They fought for us and all our rights,
They fought through many days and nights.
And though we may not know each name,
We thank ALL veterans just the same.

Happy Birthday, Barcode!
On October 2, 1952, Norman Woodman and Bernard Silver were granted a patent on the barcode. The popular search engine Google commemorated its birthday by using a barcode as one of its famous icon doodles. But, what does the mysterious barcode picture mean? According to TechCrunch, the barcode says "Google" in Code 128. Here is a make-your-own-barcode website, where you can make a barcode that says anything.

À la carte
Yesterday I was given a tour of the middle school I am going to this year. Looking at a hand-out they had given me, I realized something amazing. À la carte was misspelled (it was spelled ala carte, definitely incorrect)!
